FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions. See all questions →

Where is your main office, and do you take cases outside of Siliguri?

My primary office is based in Siliguri, but my practice covers all of North Bengal. I regularly travel to courts in Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Cooch Behar, and surrounding districts. If your matter requires physical representation in these areas, I will travel to handle it.

How do I book a consultation?

Call +91 97494 06617, email debagnic@gmail.com, or use the contact form on this page. We respond promptly during working hours.

Do you offer free initial consultations?

To ensure every client receives dedicated time, thorough case analysis, and actionable legal strategy, I do not offer free consultations. I charge a standard consultation fee, which guarantees you get direct, expert advice right from our first meeting.

Can you manage my legal work 100% online without me visiting your office?

Yes, for most legal services. Income Tax filing, GST, contract drafting, affidavits, and trade mark registration can be handled entirely online via phone or video call with documents exchanged electronically. Physical presence is only required where the law mandates it, such as property registration at the Sub-Registrar’s office or court hearings — and I will let you know well in advance when that is the case.

How long does a mutual divorce take, and do both parties need to be present?

A mutual consent divorce typically takes 6 months (the mandatory cooling-off period), though the Supreme Court allows this to be waived in specific scenarios. Both parties generally need to be present for the first and second motions, but all negotiation, drafting, and case preparation can be handled beforehand to minimise time in court.
